Fear is unwise adviser. It is a self-stopping instrument that we use to justify our denial to the world. A positive attitude to our surroundings should exclude from our everyday decisions (not when you need to decide if you will jump off the trace of car coming at you!).
Of course, it is impossible to turn fear off. It is the body's natural reaction to stress and a safe belt against threats. But even so, we shouldn't let it take control of our decisions. After all, there is always fear before making a big step, does it mean that we should stay on the same spot forever?
From the-so-known-and-discussed fear of commitment, to the small things that terrify us every day (the neighbor's anger), we need to face our fears in order to be free. The real courage is not feeling no fear , but overcoming it. People doing extreme things are not crazy, they just want to see the bright, colorful side of life.
For me a terror has always been the moment when I expose myself to others. I hate feeling vulnerable, but I don't think that all my safe mechanisms have brought to positive change in my life. On the contrary, maybe have affected some of my relationships.
One should always look for the positive and leave behind the not-serving characteristics of his/hers. So, even though it is not New Years eve (not even Christmas Eve), from now on I will make an effort to be more open to those close to me, even if this makes me weaker in their eyes.
What is your fear?
