I would like to tell you about a new and important initiative regarding children's alimentation. The renowned cook Jamie Oliver, who is ever so conscious about the diet has set on a war against fast food chains. Having won a lawsuit against McDonald's for their burgers deeming them unfit for human consumption, explaining that they are "sold in the cheapest way for dogs" before processing the fatty parts of beef by “washing” them in ammonium hydroxide and using them in the filling.
He has initiated a petition needing 3M signatures worldwide in order to "create a movement powerful enough to force all G20 governments to take action."
And if by now it has not become clear, Jamie's call is a call against Obesity.
"Obesity is one of the three biggest social burdens created by human beings alongside smoking, and armed violence, war, and terrorism. Obesity costs $2 trillion dollars globally each year."
You can get acquainted with the problem and read more on: Fight against obesity.
For raising awareness he has teamed up with many a star to produce a song about the cause. Namely: Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Jazzie B, Professor Green, Alesha Dixon, Jamie Cullum, Mr Hudson, Hugh Jackman, Us the Duo, George The Poet, Che'nelle, DJ MK, The London Youth Choir.
Do you believe that petitions are effective? Would you give a minute to a cause like that in order to sign it, share it? Tell us more in the comments below.
