Marcos met her behind the scene, she was one of the other performers at a spectacle, a singer. She was younger and very charming. He did nothing at first, although her image, with the big brown eyes and the beautiful mouth, haunted him later. After a while he met her again at another concert, still so pretty and innocent. This time he couldn't help it after he heart her laugh and asked her out. He didn't expect her to agree, but she said yes.
So it began. Soon he couldn't breathe without her and she was blossoming like a flower in the sun in his arms. When he was on stage and knew she was in the audience, he would often change a word or two to hear her laugh alone on most inappropriate places in the play. She knew all his friends and plans, projects and dreams. They were the perfect couple.
Until one day they separated. It wasn't anyone's fault, things just end some day. She moved away, he remained alone. His talent vanished, his thirst for life slipped away. He couldn't be persuasive in any positive role, so he started getting only villains and wretches' roles. This was devastating for him. Not that people could see it. He pretended, played, in front them all, demonstrating that he was the same. But he wasn't.
Then one day, by quiescence, he met her at a restaurant. With a date. They greeted politely. That night he couldn't sleep. He had nightmares and got sick. The next day he received an invitation for the theater's concert. Felt dizziness when he read she was going to sing in the performance. But it was out of the question not to go, and to be honest, he would like to.
He didn't notice or remember a thing from the concert's first part, until her turn. When she stood up and sang all the audience quieted down before her magical voice. It was dancing around, paining pictures, turning around the colonnades, echoing magnificently in the hall. No one could move. And then, at the middle of one of the couplets, Marcos heard a word changed. It was actually not funny, but he felt such a joy and happiness, that he couldn't hold himself and laughed. It was one brief laugh, but it was heard loud and clear in the quiet hall, like a spot on the singer's beautiful voice. That made many viewers to look at him angry and discouraging.
Violet smiled from the stage.
