Minimalism helps stress go away by providing a non-engagingly engaging object to concentrate on. Imagine entering a white room after a busy day. Nothing there but white walls and markers for you to write it all out, paint away the stress..
Imagine an empty shore. Many might find it beautiful just the way it is.
Or did you imagine a caravan (ideally yours) parked in the middle of it, with a couple of chairs, a civilized fire and some garden lights above.
I even went further and inflated a red balloon. Something about red balloons ever since childhood that draws me in so much!
A strong wind blows it away from my loose grip and it flies up in the sky.
I take a mental picture of it.
Minimalistic landscapes liberate us because they give us the freedom to draw our own scenery, paint what we want to see, what we want it to be. Minimalism is so much more engaging than a perfectly arranged photograph.
Minimalism is silence in the night with a cracked window when everyone is asleep. It is the clear sky at dusk with a silhouette of a tree. It is a music-sheet with one note inside and a football match that has just began. It is the first ingredient you add in the pot and the first sip of beer you drink.
Minimalism is one lit lamp from a 16-storey building, which makes you wonder what kind of person would stay up that late or get up that early. Or will make you want to switch lights on and off in your mind.
It is so many things, just because it is nothing or barely something. It is exciting, because it sets you free. What is your blank canvas?
