Living with others takes diplomacy. It is art (if we refer to living itself as art, to do it with others is a huge part from it). It doesn't matter if we talk about our personal lives, our local society or the fact that there are near 8 billions of us on the planet.
When we live with someone is usually someone beloved, closed, family (even if you are in a couple, where you haven't yet said the words, living together is in a way acknowledging a certain state of mind). But the love is not always enough for a peaceful existence. Soon enough the small everyday matters become the topic of the day. I believe that, in order to set a common tone, people need to talk and share, and respect each other.
In fact it may turn out that in order to exist the human society we need to learn to listen and not get into others personal space. If you think about it, this kind of philosophy automatically ends all wars and territory conflicts. The truth is that we are not even a little bit as civilized, as we claim to be. In wild nature things are a lot more settled and logical, that among us as a species.
I believe we can learn to live together in harmony, but in order to do so, we need to seek it in all levels, starting with our personal lives, our neighbors, the people from our town, country, continent and not less important - the other creatures on earth. If we look for peace and calm life we are obligated to offer it not only to our own, but to the others.
You see, in human world we also don't really understand all the cultures. We may seem alike, but we are not that much. And this is beautiful. If we were all the same, earth would be a boring place to exist. In nature the essence is the difference and the diversification - nothing can ever continue be surrounded by only its siblings (no predictor can live without pray, no plan can exist without a bee and another plant). Our biggest mistake, I believe, is closing ourselves in the bubble of our world and leaving all the rest outside. We do it all the time and among ourselves - the Western civilization and the Eastern Civilization, North America and South America, Eastern Europe and Western Europe, the center and the suburbs, our block and those across. These labels create prisons inside the society, inside our minds.
The boundaries are inside us and to go across them would take a great effort and great change, It would require a new definition of civilization and new mindset of those to come.
