When you live in a such a colorful world as we do, there are surprises every day and everywhere. Today a family from Northern European country left our guest house. They were a young couple with their two children who came to the island looking for sun and sand, and sea. In addition they found the world.
What I mean: when we spoke occasionally they shared that in fact this is their firs travel as a family because until now the children were too young the travel so far. When they arrived they were of course stressed from the long road, the children were tired and moody and the parents weren't really sure that in the end it was worth it. We assured them that it was all perfectly normal and checked them in their apartment. The next morning the whole house woke up by children's laugh. When the kids had their rest, they had woken up with eyes wide open; not only literally.
They were running around looking at everything - the flowers, the people, the things, the insects - wanting to see it, really see it. Later that week the parents told us that it was the same at the beach - the children were astonished by every single thing they see. At first, the mom and dad got nervous by the children's constant desire to see and touch, and ask. But then they got into thinking and found out that the children's behavior was exactly what it was supposed to be - in a new place a person should explore as much as he/she can, not to lay around waiting the time to pass. So they embarrassed the children's approach and initiated a mission for discovering the island. They left happy, smiled and full of energy and new potential. The last day, after getting to know every small thing - the landscape, the beaches, the food, the people, the flora - almost as good, as I do, the mom told me "I thing that now every day of ours will be an adventure"
And I am sure it will be. These people were brave enough to learn from their children. And opened enough to see the world with different eyes, the eyes of a child. I am asking myself, could I do it? Could I see an adventure in every day?
