Today two friends of mine and me decided to run away from the city heat and took a small (5 hours-long ) trip to the beach. Our effort was rewarded by a beautiful summer day, that shined before our eyes in many and unsuspected ways.
Leaving in the morning we breathed the fresh morning air, still smelling of night, but promising a (hot) day soon. On our way out of the city we were accompanied by the fresh summer dusk of morning. The sun came up suddenly behind the mountains and wallowed everything with light, like it wanted to rush and greet as soon as possible the bright yellow sun flowers that were awaiting it, as they can only await in July.
As we arrived at the seashore everything was just as it should have been - the sea was sparkling, beautiful and narrow, the sand was hot the frappe was cold. It felt so good to get in the water after the 5-hours-long trip and especially after the hot days before (the last week there wasn't a day with temperature under 35 degrees C). In the afternoon the sea decided to demonstrate its character and to remind us it's not just a well-behaved lake, using for this propose some waves, seaweed and wind. Of course, it is after all the sea, so it was still lovely., as such sea can only be seen in July.
On our way back we witnessed a sunset that can only be seen in July. The sun had enshrouded around itself a cloudy cloak - at first with the color of July peach, then bordo as old wine, then dramatic red for the spectacular end. Through the cloak were spiking sun rays that were kissing the ground and meanwhile the sun itself was peering down with a single fire eye. It was pure July magic.
Just when we thought that this summer day had shown us all its secrets, it took out another rabbit out of its hat and a mighty storm burst forth upon us. The raindrops were hitting the windows like small pearls falling down, the sky was flashing and roaring, the mountain was shaking and the small river on the side of the road was jumping with enthusiasm from the one bank to the other. It was a storm that can only happen in July.
The final gift of the day was a gem - a half moon showed upon us just when we were entering the city. It winked at us friendly goodby, as can wink only a moon in... July.
