The folklore is this magical place where we grow up. A place of incredible creatures and bravery, of might and color, of people and fairies.
The folktales teach us a lot. It is, in fact it is proven, that the children that weren't told fairy tales as little may have society moral issues later on. Anyhow, the tales develop person's fantasy and create a cozy little place for your dreams.
I remember, when I was a little boy, I knew all the book of fairy tales perfectly well, so I would understand if someone tried to skip a part of my bedtime story. I think, one of my parents' happiest memories in my childhood was when I learned how to read and was able to get myself to sleep.
My favorite story was of a hero, called Krali Marko. He was a son of a nymph and a human and was the strongest of them all. He walked the land and saved people from all that was evil, but most of all from other people. He was mighty, strong and always smarter than his enemies. I, of course, wanted to be just like him, and that nothing would frighten me.
Folktales create a core inside people's hearts that turn out to be a moral and maybe fantasy compass from the rest of our days. In a tale there is all the knowledge of our ancestors. Everything that they wanted us to know is locked inside what they have left us - tales, songs, dances, motives. It may seem hard to believe that in something we take for childish and granted there is so much wisdom. We are coded with our stories, we are part from them, as they are part from us.
Nowadays we leave different tales for our heirs. And a lot. I hope that one day they'll know what we meant by all this.
